SHOULD ABORTION BE PERMITTED?

In our time we can hear everywhere about problems with abortion. There are many different opinions in the world. Some people agree, but some disagree and they say that it is a murder to kill an unborn child. This are also health risks for any woman. Why do women have abortions if children are often so important in our lives? The rate of abortion is increasing in the world. It looks like a war against unborn people can not protect themselves. The phenomenon of abortion should not exist in society because it is against humanity, can give possible psychological problems for women, and is against religion to prevent in general the spread of death.

Our humanity should be protected from the beginning. Some people believe that women has a choice of childbirth; however, all of us have a right to live from conception, too. One mother told her only son that he could have a sister, but she had an abortion. The woman said that to raise two children would be difficult because her husband did not care well for the family, was not successful and drank a lot. When a teenage son had heard that from his mother, he asked in his mind, «What would have happened, if I had been born second instead of my sister?» As Rickie Solinger and others (1998:20), in the book «Abortion Wars A Half Century of Struggle 1950-2000», says, «In the postwar era, after several generations of performing abortions themselves, looking the other way, or facilitating, through referrals, illegal abortions, a great many doctors adopted an aggressive position against abortions.» As we know abortion emerged in society many years ago and this is an expulsion of a fetus by medical induction and naturally from the woman’s womb before an unborn child is able to survive in an independent way. All people on earth have the freedom to do their actions but the human life must always be preserved. Each person is a treasure for the society. The woman has no right to decide to kill her child or allow it to live. Even there is a real threat to the mother's life she must with doctors to protect the new life and surrender to the will o God. In such situations were already cases that mother sacrificed herself for a baby. For abortion should be a fair punishment of all who contribute to that like a long prayer penance in the Church or some fine at the state level and imprisonment as it was in England ahead of 1837 year. Also, there was a scourge punishment and even the death penalty. The famous Greek physician, father of medicine Hippocrates (460-370 before Christ), spoke against abortion and called it a crime. Humanity must be in accordance with the height of a moral framework. In short, we are not humans only after a happy birth.

Many different things we can keep in our mind. Although some may think that after abortion, or killing an unborn child, a woman can quickly forget about this action, it must be noted that the woman could suffer for a long time with emotional distress, fear, some negative psychological symptoms, and suicidal behavior. For example, under pressure from memories of past abortion or abortions, women can also commit suicide without adequate support among their relatives or friends. Not always such people want to go to a psychologist, or a priest in the Church. Also, it is often Post-Abortion Syndrome (PAS), depression, or some pain in the body. Women usually need a quality healthcare. Rachel B. Needle; Lenore E. Walker (2008:4) describe in their book «Abortion counseling: a clinician's guide to psychology, legislation, politics, and competency» that «many women unwittingly wait too long to find help and either have higher fees or are no longer able to have abortions due to the longer gestation of the pregnancy.» In general, phenomenon of abortion very often causes acute psychological stress, pain, etc. and it’s difficult don’t remember this in the life.»

Religions often do not allow an abortion, especially the Catholic Church. Although not all people from the world believe in the existence of God, many are religious and moral. It must also caused by religion reasons because before the birth the heavenly Creator gives to person an eternal (an immortal) soul and only God has the right to take human life back again. For example, in Christianity there is a separate commandment of God, which requires not to kill. This is a big sin. Abortion is like murder at the start of life, it is not only a "simple operation". David Hollenbach S. J. (2002:87) claims in «The Common Good and Christian Ethics» that today in Europe and the United States pluralism in religion is extremely bigger than in recent times. First of all, there is also the reason of transmigration, conversions to non-Western religions, the appearance of new religious cults and the rise of atheism and agnosticism. In fact, abortion as contraception has created everywhere a «culture of death». This sounds not well according to our human position in society, ethics and moral, therefore, each life is like an expensive gift of the Creator; a right immanent by nature in every individual. The problem of abortion is primarily a religious and moral issue.

In conclusion, abortions are performed in different countries. They should be illegal. People have different thoughts of the issue regarding the "culture of death" that is against our humanity, the common lives. If women have an abortion, they may have psychological problems and even commit suicide. In many religions, abortion is usually not allowed because the person has a soul and it is not a human right to deprive someone of life before birth. The government or society should also strive to affect the large problem of abortion. What we will do in this matter?
